The Steyn family resides in a high demand residential area in Cape Town. South Africa’s persistent grid instability, characterized by frequent load shedding, had made their daily life increasingly difficult. The family sought a sustainable, high capacity solution to ensure their home remained powered during scheduled and unscheduled grid outages.

THE CHALLENGE

Prior to the SNADI installation, the Steyn family residence relied entirely on an increasingly unstable municipal grid. The operational pain points were critical:

  1. Grid Instability: In 2024, the region faced 142 scheduled grid outages (load shedding), sometimes lasting up to 8 hours a day.
  2. Rising Utility Costs: With an average monthly bill of ~$190 USD, the family was looking for a way to mitigate increasing electricity tariffs.
  3. Need for High Power Output: The household required enough power to run heavy loads, including air conditioning, kitchen appliances, and home office equipment simultaneously.

SNADI'S SOLUTION

To meet these requirements, we deployed an advanced solar energy system solution featuring SNADI’s flagship technology:

  1. SNADI ES Series 12kW High Performance Hybrid Inverter : As the core of the system, this inverter handles both on grid and off grid operations seamlessly. With a rated power of 12,000W and a 150A maximum hybrid charging current, it can easily support heavy household loads. Its UPS level transfer time of ≤10ms ensures that the transition from grid to battery power is imperceptible.
  2. 30kWh SNADI BL Series LiFePO4 Storage System: We installed two units of the BL-15000LP, each providing 14,336Wh of high density energy storage. These batteries are built with REPT LFP cells and offer over 6,000 cycles at 25°C. The integrated Battery Management System (BMS) protects against over discharge, over charge, and extreme temperatures, ensuring maximum safety for the home.
  3. Smart Energy Management: The system includes WiFi remote monitoring, allowing the family to track solar production and battery levels in real time via their smartphones.

Since the system's commissioning in September 2024, the results have been transformative:

  1. 100% Reliability: Despite 142 scheduled outages throughout late 2024 and 2025, the family experienced zero hours of downtime.
